Conaway is a costume concept artist and professor of entertainment design at ArtCenter College of Design in Pasadena, CA. She’s a Hugo Finalist author, specializing in mid-century fashion, gender and costume, and costume design for entertainment.

As a member of the Costume Designers Guild, IATSE Local 892, her credits include studios such as Netflix, Disney, NBC, CBS, Universal Studios, DreamWorks Animation, Sole Productions, and AppleTV+. In animation and gaming, she specializes in cloth simulation and garment model fit.

Considered an authority on the intersection between clothing and social psychology, Conaway is on the cutting edge of how the entertainment industry thinks about costume and culture as a visual language. Conaway recently co-authored Talking Threads: Costume Design for Animators and Illustrators through Design Studio Press and was invited to speak at the Future Forum by the German Institute of Research and Technology on the future of the fashion industry and sustainability through virtual reality design.

Conaway is faculty at ArtCenter College of Design in Pasadena, CA. Her courses include unique courses such as World Costume Design, 3D Costume Simulation & Design, Korean Production Design, and History of Fashion for Entertainment. Her classes explore Conaway's expertise in building cultures for film, television, and gaming from the ground up.
