Happy Halloween World!

Halloween is one of my favorite holidays - not necessarily because I love candy or dressing up, but I love the ambiance. Orange lamp glows and the smell of leaves, the crunch underfoot and that cool, crisp air.

Living in Southern California - I have to leave in order to experience my favorite time of year. This is rarely a problem, since I work in Seoul, South Korea at some point during October-November every year. But for the past several years of this work, my time in Korea has overlapped with October 31st. This is the first year, in four years, that I have been in the US for All Hallow's Eve.

I guess what I'm trying to get at, is enjoy some of the awesome things I've found inspiring this spooky time of year!

Heavenly Horses

The Bowers Museum has a beautiful, limited exhibit of Chon-Li or Heavenly Horses right now. I couldn't help but visit my local museum to see them! Here are a few beautiful examples.

Super(fluous) Wrap Up!

This week I had the amazing opportunity to work with some of my favorite people, Siobhan Doherty, Sean Harrigan, and Lucas Calhoun! Not to mention the hysterical Keiko Ageno who is now, of course, also on my super collaborator list. What a team!

Super(fluous) is a pilot web series focused on three super roommates trying to make it in a world flooded with superheroes. Tightly written and hilarious performed and directed, I cannot express how fun it was to reconnect and work on something that DIDN'T involve a horrifying death!

Can you believe that - comedies and musicals included - I have never done a show that didn't involve someone's death as a major plot point? \

THANK YOU Sio and Sean for breaking my morbid streak!

Leather Workshop at NSSF

During an impromptu afternoon at the New Swan, I was able to teach our high school interns and props supervisor a little bit about leather mask-making. We all thought it was the perfect way to finish up their internship at the New Swan Shakespeare Festival.

After cutting their patterns out and learning some new tools, they've wetted and molded their leather onto plaster-cast faces.

Space and Beyond!

My friend and intern Allison Kim and I are cooking up a new project: Future/Children. While pulling at Western for R&J, we checked out some retro space helmets for inspiration. Not to mention the great antique shops in my neighborhood! As they say, "Live long and RAYGUN!"
